Stephen studied at the famous Hornsey College of Art before getting his Batchelor of Arts Degree at the University of London Goldsmiths' College.
He has exhibited widely throughout the racing world including The Society of Equestrian artists 1988 and 1995 , Richmond Gallery, Newmarket , Lexington Kentucky USA, etc. I have been showing his work since 1987 . His work has been reproduced in Travelling the Turf - the race goers bible since 1988 and in 1993 his work was used for the Injured Jockey's Fund Calendar.
Stephen is a master of painting movement and form. His great love is horses in contest with each other and the elements , though his pictures of fish, another great interest , are highly sought after .Since the birth of his son James he has enjoyed doing portraits of children with whom he is much more relaxed. He has also of course painted adult portraits. His restful English landscapes, often with cricket on the village green, people playing bowls or croquet are quintessentially English.
Like many Royal Academy members and other great artists, Stephen teaches the art of painting. Although he gets great pleasure from seeing his students improve, it is through his own paintings that he is gaining recognition.
